The price of freedom

'The price of freedom is eternal vigilance'. So said Thomas Jefferson 220-odd years ago, and this story seems to me to underline its present day relevance. I've said before in this blog that if theocrats ever come to power, the likes of me could very well find themselves in a concentration camp, if not a gas chamber. Yeah, OK, this so-called 'man of God' is an obvious extremist, but his views are, I think, indicative of the mindset of a substantial number of biblical literalists, who choose to allow dogma to overpower any kind of compassion or empathy for anyone who doesn't slavishly subscribe to the same worldview as themselves.

  1. It would appear that his comments resulted in such a maelstrom of vitriol directed back at him that the entire church's website crashed, his email is dead, and I am hoping he is hiding under his altar table quivering in fear of what the OTHER half of the God-fearing people who DO care about their bretheren might do to him for acting like Hitler!

    1. Hello Jay
Vitriol he may have attracted, but, from what follow-up I've seen, he's thoroughly unrepentant. Not that much of a surprise, I suppose, given that these people deal in 'tablets of stone' absolutes. Just another example of certain so-called 'Christians' peddling hatred and bigotry, illustrating their hypocrisy for all to see.

      Love & best wishes
