....and pretty much ends here, as well. I did a one-off night shift last night, haven't been to bed today, then I'm off again tomorrow, but have to construct the day in such a way as to be able to get up sober at 4:30 on Sunday morning to go in for an early turn. What is this 'work-life balance' of which you speak?

I would go nuts if I had to do swing shifts like you do. It's apparent that employers haven't figured out (or don't care to) that workers who are on swing shifts are not nearly as well rested, alert, and ready to go as those who work fixed shifts, whatever that shift may be.

Hello Jay
DeleteAs I've said before, working shifts is what I've always done, and what I'm used to. That doesn't mean that having both of my days off messed up by the working days on either side isn't frustrating, though!
