It's just occurred to me that if I'd decided, at 12, to be celibate and live alone for the rest of my life, virtually all of my troubles would have been non-existent. Not for the first time, hindsight proves its status as the most useless commodity known to man.

But what 12 year old would EVER choose that? Hindsight may be 20/20, but that doesn't mean that is what should have happened.

DeleteYou're right, of course, it was only a bit of hypothetical musing. Finding a sensible way of dealing with where I am now, rather than hindsighting about how it could have been different, would undoubtedly be more beneficial.
