I came across this story last night. No matter how long you've been involved with their cult, or how committed you've been, if you're not prepared to toe their narrow-minded, hateful line, not prepared to sacrifice your children to their imaginary friend, you're cast out. The sooner organised religion, of every stamp, drowns in its own cesspool of hatred, the better.

A difficult and terribly sad issue, I kind of just wish that Religion would leave people alone, like ok fine thats what you beleive is right and wrong but its not what other people beleive is right and wrong. That doesn't make you any better than them just leave them alone! So ok she was a member of the church but surely its up to her to decide whether she wants to continue with her 'sinfull' lifestyle, and ok the Vicar can warn against it, but I thought the church was supposed to help sinners?! Not kick them out if they don't listen to it! Ridiculous and disgusting! God this gets me so angry XD

Hello Callum
DeleteI'm all for personal freedom, for people being able to live their life their way and being able to believe what they want to believe, but when those opinions become institutionalised, and those who believe in a certain worldview think they have the right - the god-given right, in their eyes - to impose those beliefs on others, that's when I become very angry. I'm gay, I'm an atheist. In some countries, just being one of those things, never mind both, would be enough to condemn me to death. And all in the name of a 'god' who is supposed to love his creation. The irony would be hilarious, if it wasn't so bloody dangerous.

They're better off OUT of that cesspool. If that is how they believe in that church, it won't be long before no one is a member since all humans are sinners according to the plain Bible they used to justify their bigotry against these folks.

Hello Jay
DeleteEveryone would be better outside all religious belief, in my opinion, but I know that the majority wouldn't agree with me. The sad thing is that these people will, with very little doubt, have been indoctrinated with this kind of attitude since childhood, and will, almost equally certainly, be doing the same to their own children. You can bet a pound to a penny, though, that had I force-fed my daughter with atheistic 'propaganda' since her earliest years, these same people would want to call me the world's worst parent. The whole edifice of organised religion, all of it, not just Christianity, is rotten from top to bottom as far as I'm concerned, and until it's done away with, Homo sapiens will never be able to reach our full potential as a species.
